Service Area
Lathrup Village sits entirely inside Southfield, so its brick Colonials, Tudors and cottages are right in our own backyard.
Serving Lathrup VillageLathrup Village Painters
Lathrup Village is completely surrounded by Southfield, where our crew is based, so we're about as local as a painting company can get without being inside the city limits. We paint interiors and exteriors on Lathrup Village homes, from a single room to the whole house.
The city covers about one and a half square miles between 10 1/2 Mile and 12 Mile Roads, and its homes have a strong, consistent character. Our job is to keep that character intact while giving the house a fresh finish.
History
Lathrup Village began as a model community. Louise Lathrup Kelley bought about 1,000 acres of Southfield Township in 1923 and platted the village in 1924, with homes faced in brick, stone or stucco. Nearly all of the houses in the Lathrup Village Historic District were built between 1930 and 1940 or between 1945 and 1960, in Colonial, English Tudor, English Cottage and Spanish Colonial styles.
The district was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1998, and that listing on its own doesn't restrict what owners do with their homes. The city also has a local historic district and a Historic District Commission, so if you plan to change exterior colors and aren't sure which rules apply to your address, check with the city first.
Our Services
On masonry homes like these, exterior painting usually means trim, doors, windows, garage doors and any painted siding or stucco, while interior painting covers the rooms, ceilings and woodwork inside. Repainting works well when you want to keep a home's original look with a fresh coat or move to a new palette.
Walls that have settled over the decades may need drywall repair before painting, and texture coating can match existing texture after a repair. We also offer faux finish painting for a dining room or entry with old-world character, new construction painting for additions, and commercial painting for local offices and rentals.
Exterior Colors
Brick and stone set the starting point, since they usually stay unpainted. On a Tudor, the trim and half-timbering are typically the painted features, often in deep browns, creams or blacks that work with the brick. Colonials lean on shutters, front doors and white or soft-toned trim for contrast.
Bring a few photos of looks you like and we'll talk through options that respect the style of the house. Test samples on more than one side of the home, because morning and afternoon light can change a color a lot.
